Eastman has unveiled the Double Top Series, an innovative take on the classic flat top design. With a unique modification to their top tonewoods, these guitars are touted as more resonant, responsive, and feature better note clarity and balance. The Double Top models feature a pair of one-millimetre-thin spruce slices that are adjoined by Nomex.
The latter is a honeycomb-like resinous substance – patented by DuPont – that was originally designed for use in the aerospace industry. It functions as a rigid wall between the two spruce pieces, adding on layers of density and depth.Yet, the added density does not compromise the guitars’ lightness and sonic range. They are designed to respond to all types of vibrations and can handle a variety of styles, ranging from intricate solo picking to larger band setups. The Double Top Series is offered in three models: the DT30D, DT30OM, and DT30GACE.
